North Girls take 8th

Sheboygan North took 8th in the 16 team tennis tournament at Brookfield Central. Round 1 they had a great defeat against Kenosha Bradford 5-2, Round 2 lost to the always strong Brookfield Central 7-0, Round 3 was a hard fought battle with Green Bay Southwest but lost 7-0 Finally they ended the tournament with another tough loss to Kenosha Tremper 6-1. I thought they really started out strong but then took a couple hard hits and found it difficult to fight back. The scores do not always show how close some of the matches really were. I think we learned a lot about our games this weekend and know what we need to work on to pull out some of these matches. Despite the weather and other conditions we finished the tournament and I'm proud of all the girls!!!

Oh...some of you needed my email address...

Hi all...

I checked on the price of the skirt this year and it is still $38.15 (plus shipping). I do have 10 “team skirts” but that is not a lot and varsity players have first “dibs”. I do have old uniforms from 2 years ago but they are the old royal blue and not as nice but they are OK if we need them. What I found last year is most girls wanted to buy their own skirt…this way it is theirs to keep and wear whenever they play! As far as the tops…last year we ordered white tops but unfortunately they all fit the girls differently and some didn’t like the looser fit or felt they were to short…so I gave into any plain white shirt or tank top (no writing and only small logos…like nike swoosh). The seniors are in the process of designing this years shirts so there is another top option they can wear as well.

I hope this clarifies the uniform issue…I don’t think we will order team sweats this year as a “team” but I’ll check with not just soccer if anyone is interested. The seniors will have sweatshirts as well.

Another thing to keep in mind…next Tuesday is our JV Raider Invite…the top 10 JV players will compete. I still want everyone here and will have jobs and court monitoring etc…If there are any parent volunteers I’d appreciate the extra hands. Please call or email me if that works in your schedule. I would also request that each girl on the team bring something to sell at the meet…cookies, granola bars, case of water, Gatorade, fruit…My captains will workout a “work schedule” for those not competing and Varsity practice times will also be arranged.

I hope everyone is enjoying summer and you're finding time to hit some tennis balls! As I'm heading to the cottage for the next couple weeks I was thinking of creating a challenge ladder. This will help figure out a few spots. After I talk to coach Jane I'll put out what we think the top 10 or 15 are and then you can challenge from there...more to come on that! Big thing is start preparing :)

Welcome to the tennis blog

I've decided the best way to share information with you all is through the web. After taking an online class on weblogs, I decided to make you all my Guinea Pigs and give it a try! Let's see if this is as good as they report it can be!
